Not so good at this yet....

I guess I am going to start this post saying that I am not really good at this whole blog thing yet. I keep reading other people's blogs and they are all filled with these meaningful well thought out posts and I just can't figure out what to write about most days. I'm not sure if my lack of something to say comes from not taking a whole lot of time to absorb anything other than school or stuff going on with my family. I'm not sure what to make of that, but I guess it will come to me or I will just get better at this whole blogging thing as I gain a little more experience with it. I do have to be honest though, I am by all means a science and math girl and have never been very good at putting my thoughts into words. Either way, I do promise to do my best to get better at this.

On the school front, things are going well this semester luckily. I had a Calculus test and an Anatomy Practical today. I do not know yet how I did on the Calculus exam, but I am pretty certain I did well. I have always been good at math primarily because I enjoy it, but honestly I am drained with all the math classes already and luckily this will be my last math class that is required. Don't get me wrong I do not mind doing math; I just don't want to have to take another math class. Calculus is making my brain numb. The lab practical today was on the heart, endocrine, and digestive systems and I GOT A 100%. Yeah for me!!!! I was so happy. Now it's time for me to get ready for the lecture exam on the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems. I do well with the lecture exams, meaning I have an average in the high 90's but this for me is a little more nerve racking. Lecture is just harder for me which means that I will start hitting the books tonight. I have studied some already but I must really concentrate on only that till Tuesday. I have to manage to get some time put into Developmental Psych, but that is the class I am the least worried about at the moment. Besides,,, I HATE THAT CLASS!!

My second munchkin, my Y2K baby will be turning 8 years old on the Fourth of July. Of course that gives our crazy Hispanic family two reasons to party so there will be about 50 people all getting together at my sister's house that day. Pretty much it's all of the first cousin's and their family's getting together. My sister and her husband will be throwing the party at their place. I can't wait for this party… I will blog all about it to tell everyone how it all went. Should be good though, there is going to be plenty of liquor, food, and a pool; besides, my sister throws the best parties ever! I can't wait, it will be a nice reward after all these tests I've had the last few days.

Please if anyone reads this and has any suggestions for me to improve my blog please, please let me know.

hi! I've been reading your blogs but haven't commented cuz for reasons unbeknownst to me, I have a problem with opening blogger comments. haloscan is alright, but blogger doeasn't work for me. *shrug* Just wanted to say that I'm terribly inspired by you, really, I'm a 22 yr just begining my clinicals this summer and I can't even IMAGINE doing what you're doing AND get great marks. You go girl! :D As for blogging, just cool off and don't worry. Your blog is pretty good as it is. Most people write nothing in their blogs but what goes on in their life and brain, be it simple or sophisticated. Honesty and good humor is the key. :) I guess you are pretty good already. :) That said, I now fly back to nephrology. :)

Calculus was the hardest class I've ever taken, its all down hill after that. Medical School math is mostly moving decimal points, figuring out dilutions(is it 1:10,000 epinephrine or 1:100,000?)and the worthless "Number Needed to Treat" stat.

i think first of all, switch to wordpress.

second, keep blogging! express yourself, you're doing fine now! a blog is entirely yours and free reign for you to say whatever you want. so enjoy it! :)

Thank you guys for the kind words, it does really mean alot.

fh, what is haloscan?

jeffrey, what is wordpress and why switch?

Drackman, calculus luckily hasn't been really bad. I have a really great teacher and I have not had to study for it nearly as much as I did last semester in Trig. I will tell you moving decimal points will be really nice.

well, wordpress carries slight benefits over blogger in that it has more functions. you could just set up one at wordpress.com and try it out. i had a fiddle with both before deciding on wordpress.

one thing blogger has which wordpress doesn't is that it can allow readers to comment and put a tick that allows them to follow up comments.

haloscan is a blog comment system. Seen Michelle Au's comment section? That's haloscan. Some prefer haloscan comments and some prefer blogger comments (some even have both) but I don't know which one is better, technically, just that I can't open blogger comments page. It probably has something to do with my ISP.

haloscan used to have the extra function of "following up comments". i used it when blogger didn't have that function yet.

now that blogger has it, there's little benefit of adding haloscan to the equation.

hi
i have a correction to make.

wordpress is more secure and there are more options. for example, categories. widgets at the side etc.

however, for blogger, you can choose your own theme (require basic html knowledge), just cutting and pasting. also, for blogger, it allows javascript and iframe. javascript is needed for certain widgets but if you dont plan to do any, then wordpress is OK. they say javascript is malicious and hackers use that to shut down myspace for some time before. so thats their reason and i guess that reasonable.

so if ure just blogging and itll mainly be text and pictures, then wordpress is a great choice. ;)

I will follow you and see how you handle this, because I am a 27-year old Turk in Istanbul who has recently decided to go pre-med in the US. I am dumbfounded with my own decision and do not even know where to begin, and you are certainly an inspiration. Best of luck to you, and keep posting.

I'm with you on the not knowing what to write thing. I'm even new than you are at this. I think I've forgotten how to write anything coherent. Med school tends to wipe out a lot of things you had in there before then. Well, that and the alcohol.
